Physics-based models allow us to connect microscopic mechanisms (nucleation, growth, fragmentation) with macroscopic observables (mass, number, distributions). However, different mechanisms can produce similar macroscopic behavior, so reliable conclusions require rich datasets (e.g. time evolution and size distributions).
