BackTab Navigator

BackTab Navigator is a Chrome extension that allows you to open links in background tabs without switching to them. This extension is perfect for users who want to enhance their browsing efficiency and multitasking capabilities.

  1. All Domains: Functionality applies to all domains
  2. Specific Domains: Functionality only applies to user-defined domains

• Shift-click override: Holding the Shift key while clicking a link will open the link normally, without the extension's functionality

Installation

1. Clone this repository or download the ZIP file
2. Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions
3. Enable "Developer mode" in the top right corner
4. Click "Load unpacked" and select the directory containing the extension files

Usage

1. Click on the extension icon in the Chrome toolbar to open the popup
2. Read the short description to understand how the extension works
3. Select your desired mode of operation
4. If using "Specific Domains" mode, add domains to the list
5. You can also click the "Add Current Domain" button to add the domain of the current website you're on
6. To open a link normally (without the extension's functionality), hold the Shift key while clicking the link

Ideal Use Cases

1. Efficient File Downloads: When downloading multiple files from a website, you can stay on the main page without being redirected to each new download tab.

2. Research and Reading: Quickly open multiple articles or resources in background tabs while staying on your main search results page, allowing for more efficient information gathering.

3. Shopping Comparison: When comparing products across different websites, you can open multiple product pages in the background without losing your place on the main shopping page.

Error Logging

Errors are logged to the Chrome console. To view error logs:

1. Right-click on the extension icon
2. Select "Inspect popup"
3. In the developer tools window that opens, switch to the "Console" tab
