Nico is a privacy-first desktop writing environment focused on long-form narrative development.
Nico is actively evolving. Core authoring workflows are usable, and AI-assisted tooling is under active iteration. Some features are stable, while others are still being refined.
Development is currently centered on:
- Improving AI assistant reliability and provider/model configuration UX
- Strengthening structured story tooling (characters, locations, events, themes/motifs)
- Expanding media and generation workflows in a practical, privacy-conscious way
- Tightening quality and resilience across desktop interactions
Nico includes early support for AI-assisted content workflows and image-generation-adjacent tooling. There is also ongoing work around a ComfyUI integration path; this is best understood as an in-progress integration area rather than a fully finalized pipeline.
Nico is designed to keep user work local-first where possible. External model/provider usage depends on the configurations you explicitly choose.
This project is pre-release software. Interfaces and behavior may change as development continues.
