🚨 Severity: MEDIUM
πŸ’‘ Vulnerability: The exception handler in the __main__ block caught exceptions and directly interpolated {e} into the logging output. If an attacker controlled start_ip or end_ip strings and included \n characters (CRLF sequences), they could inject arbitrary, unsanitized newlines and spoofed log entries into the application's logging stream.
🎯 Impact: Attackers could manipulate log records, potentially masking malicious activity or creating false trails, which compromises the integrity of audit logs.
πŸ”§ Fix: Wrapped the exception output in repr(str(e)) inside the logging call, forcing any injected control characters to be safely escaped as raw literal text instead of evaluated.
βœ… Verification: Ensure tests pass locally using python3 -m unittest test_testping1.py, particularly the newly added test_main_block_log_injection.
