Vidette Makes is a community-driven organization founded to connect and empower makers of all backgrounds across Northwest Indiana. What began nearly eight years ago as a small gathering of developers, engineers, artists, and entrepreneurs in a local brewery has grown into a dynamic collective of professionals, creatives, and enthusiasts. Our members come together to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and collaborate on projects that spark innovation and creativity. In 2020, we formalized our efforts by establishing Vidette Makes as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with the goal of providing accessible opportunities for learning, creating, and building meaningful projects. Today, we are proud to be a resource for the region, fostering a culture of collaboration, education, and sustainability, where makers of all kinds, whether through their hands, computers, or minds, can thrive and make an impact.

We believe in the power of making, whether it is with your hands through craftsmanship, with a computer through coding, by composing music and sound, with your mind through creative problem-solving and design, or by collaborating with others to bring ideas to life. At Vidette Makes, we provide opportunities for hands-on learning and creative expression, where makers of all skill levels can work together to address challenges, share ideas, and bring their visions to life.
Our approach is rooted in education, innovation, collaboration, and inspiration, and we strive to offer workshops, mentorship, and community-driven projects that highlight the incredible potential of makers.

Vidette Makes offers community events to bring people together in an academic atmosphere. Our main lecture series, The Makers Monthly Meetup, aims to inspire creativity and collaboration while fostering a sense of belonging and connection within the community.
