WebGator is a powerful, lightweight browser extension that injects a native-looking navigation bar into every webpage. Designed for power users and installed PWAs, it provides essential navigation controls (Back, Forward, Reload, Home, Close) without requiring access to the browser's top UI.
- Dual Display Modes:
- 🖱️ Floating: A draggable, pill-shaped bar that stays exactly where you put it.
- 📌 Static: A sleek top-bar that pushes page content down and auto-hides when scrolling.
- Native UI & Theming: Automatically extracts the background color of the current website to blend perfectly with the page (Light/Dark mode support).
- Drag & Drop: In floating mode, move the bar anywhere. It remembers its position per domain.
- Firefox Mobile Optimized: Full touch-event support for Firefox on Android, including a hidden tooltip system for touchscreens.
- Smart Auto-Hide: Static bar hides on scroll-down and reappears instantly when scrolling up or hovering near the top edge.
- Custom Homepage: Set your own destination for the Home button via the Settings Popup.
Click and drag the bar to position it anywhere on your screen. WebGator will remember this position specifically for that domain, ensuring it never covers important site content.
The bar is fixed at the top center. Unlike other extensions, WebGator pushes the website content down so it never hides the site's original header or navigation menus. It auto-hides after 1.5 seconds of inactivity to keep your view clean.
- Download the chrome version and unzip it.
- Open
chrome://extensions/. - Enable Developer mode (top-right).
- Click Load unpacked and select the extension folder.
