patternflow
An LED synthesizer.
A reinterpretation of Nam June Paik's Participation TV (1963).
Open-source hardware, firmware, case files, and patterns — everything on GitHub for anyone to build, hack, and share.
I'm Seunghun, a 24-year-old visual designer from Seoul. patternflow began in March 2026 as a small experiment with an LED matrix and four knobs. Thirty days later — through my first PCB, my first case prints, and a lot of late-night soldering — it had become the project I'm betting this year on.
This isn't a company. It's one person trying to grow patternflow into a category of its own — a way of making media art that anyone can join, build, and contribute to. The road ahead is long, and I'm planning to walk it in the open.
What your sponsorship supports
- Components, PCBs, and 3D printing for new variants
- Time to write proper documentation and build guides instead of rushing
- Firmware and platform development to make patternflow easier for others to make their own
- Keeping everything open and free for the community
Where to find more
- The site: patternflow.work — an interactive guide to building patternflow, plus a pattern editor and web-based ESP32 uploader
- Build logs and dev notes: patternflow.work/journal
- Repository: github.com/engmung/PatternFlow
If patternflow's first thirty days resonated with you, your support helps the next thirty, and the thirty after that.
Thank you. Truly.
— Seunghun
10 sponsors would mean patternflow has 10 people betting on its future alongside me. That support directly funds the next round of PCBs, case prints, and the time to write proper documentation instead of rushing it. If you've followed the build so far — joining as one of the first ten would mean a lot.
