I recently purchased the LDROBOT D500 LiDAR kit (Model: STL-19P) for my university final year project involving the enhancement of navigation capabilities of a firefighting robot using LiDAR SLAM and multi-sensor fusion. Unfortunately, I’ve encountered difficulties integrating this LiDAR sensor with ROS, primarily due to the lack of available documentation, drivers, or examples for this particular model.
Key Challenges:
- Lack of Documentation: I haven't been able to find any resources or official documentation that explains how to configure this sensor for use with ROS.
- Data Acquisition: I need to fetch data from the sensor to use it for mapping and SLAM, but I am unsure how to proceed with the sensor’s configuration.
- Closed-Source Nature: The sensor appears closed-source, making it difficult to reverse-engineer or adapt existing ROS packages for this device.
Urgent Need:
My project timeline is tight, and integrating this sensor with ROS is a critical part of my research. I would greatly appreciate any guidance, resources, or examples that could help me configure the sensor to fetch mapping data. Even partial solutions or starting points would be invaluable.
