The report does improve with 22.2.0 although IMHO it is worse than the cucumber 3.2 report style 🥲

Seems like the hooks were "improved" in #415, maybe some further refinement is needed as apart from the duration there is no benefit in showing the hooks without attachments. (For example these hooks don't even tell me where they come from despite message having a source reference)

As an example, here is how the Jenkins Cucumber HTML reporter looks like:

Is it possible to turn off all these hoocks? For me in is mess in report all these after and before steps. My hooks are only for local timings na d I don't want them to appear in report. Also in before step I use Inconclusive Exception to stop processing steps in case of checking failed for external conditions. This exception is used only for not run status for step, not for generating error.
Also after introduction of hook support there are no report for scenario outline in table view, only in form of step by step.

Agree on adding source reference.

The move away from table for scenario outlines is a separate thing, and the rationale is laid out in cucumber/html-formatter#283, but happy to discuss that on another issue in terms of use cases that are going unserved now. There may be overlap with #341.

I'm ok with this feature "move away from table for scenario outlines is a separate thing".
What I don't like is the number of empty hooks. I have a scenario with 8 Before Empty Hooks and 4 After Empty Hooks.

I agree with @vdaburon, there should be some less cluttered way to display the hooks. I think my situation is worse as I have hooks for each step as well:

@dpsi Which cucumber flavor and version are you using? Can you reproduce the issue after upgrading to the latest version?
