Preprocessor

This is the most important step: you must correctly record an environment that will be used for reconstruction.

Important Information

  • Consistency: Disable all automatic camera features, including autofocus, auto–white balance, and auto-exposure.
  • Resolution: Input frames must be 512×512. The preprocessor automatically crops to 512×512 while preserving aspect ratio. To ensure you understand exactly what will be captured, consider enabling a 1:1 aspect ratio on your camera.
  • Orbit: While recording, orbit around the scene with the camera angled slightly inward toward the subject.
  • Sensor Bags: The preprocessor automatically detects and converts .bag files captured by RealSense cameras into usable frames.
  • Recommendations: I recommend the Blackmagic Camera app for high-quality, controlled recording: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagiccamera.
  • Supported Formats: .bag, .mp4, .mov, .mkv, .avi.
